Also known as capsicum, bell peppers can be added to your stir fries for sweetness, to your salad for colour, on top of your pizza for crunch or simply enjoyed raw or roasted. Not only are they low in calories but they provide large doses of Vitamin A, B6, C and E thus keeping you healthy and youthful.

To use bell peppers, give them a good wash and dry. Cut around the stem in a circle to remove the stem and seeds. Slice down the whitish ribs inside the pepper and now you’ll have 3 or 4 pieces for you to slice and dice as needed.

Quality (How to identify what’s good, what’s not)

Look for bell peppers that are firm, glossy and deeply colored. Its skin should be clear, shiny and intact. To maintain its freshness, keep peppers in the refrigerator tightly wrapped in a plastic bag.
